Halebop shuts down – Telia discontinues one of Sweden's most recognised telecom brands

Halebop is being discontinued and existing customers will be moved to Telia during the summer of 2026. The migration is automatic and normally requires no action from the customer. We cover what the change means, what happens to your subscription and number — and whether it is worth comparing alternatives.

Halebop shuts down – Telia discontinues one of Sweden's most recognised telecom brands

Published: 3 June 2026

After more than 25 years on the Swedish telecom market, it is now confirmed that Halebop is being discontinued. Telia has announced that the sale of Halebop's products and services will cease from 2 June 2026, and that existing customers will gradually be migrated to Telia over the summer.

It is a bittersweet end for a brand that for many became synonymous with affordable mobile telephony on Telia's network. But for Halebop's customers, the most important thing is to understand what the move actually means in practice — and whether this is a good opportunity to compare what the market has to offer.

What happens to Halebop's customers?

Telia states that the migration will take place gradually during the summer of 2026 and that customers will not normally need to take any active steps. Phone numbers, services and existing terms will all transfer as part of the migration.

According to Telia, the move means customers will receive the same or better terms than before, along with access to a broader range of services within Telia's offering. Affected customers will be notified directly by Telia ahead of the migration.

Halebop — a brand that left its mark

Halebop launched in 2000 and quickly built up strong customer satisfaction thanks to simple subscriptions, transparent terms and competitive prices — all on Telia's nationwide network. The brand came to represent a more accessible and straightforward alternative to its parent company.

In recent years, however, Halebop's offering gradually narrowed. In an earlier step, Halebop discontinued its broadband service, and now Telia is taking the final step by consolidating all operations under a single brand. The decision is described by Telia as part of a long-term strategy to simplify its offering and strengthen its market position.

Should you do anything now?

If you are a Halebop customer today, you do not normally need to take any action — Telia handles the migration and you will receive information directly.

But the migration is still a natural moment to stop and ask yourself whether you are happy with your current subscription. The market has changed since you last compared, and there are today several affordable alternatives that may suit your needs better.

Thinking of switching? Keep in mind that you always have the right to keep your mobile number when changing operator — it follows you regardless of where you choose to go. Read more about how it works in our guide on transferring your mobile number and our guide on switching mobile operator.

Good alternatives if you want to compare

If you are considering switching, there are several operators that resemble Halebop's original offering — simple subscriptions without unnecessary add-ons on one of Sweden's nationwide networks.

Operators such as Fello and Vimla are clear alternatives for those who want affordable mobile telephony on Telia's and Telenor's networks respectively. Vimla has been named the operator with Sweden's most satisfied customers four years in a row. Fello offers double data for students and pensioners at no extra cost.
